Our Story

Fariji Sacco was started as a NWDT Sacco back in 1989 by Catholic faithfuls in Kagwe parish under the name Kagwe Catholic Development Fund operating in offices provided by the churches in the Parish.

Later the Cooperative changed its name to Kagwe Christian Development Fund Sacco to enable it cover more Christians from other denominations and therefore opened outstations in various towns in Lari, Githunguri and Gatundu constituencies.

In 2010, the Sacco went through rebranding process, which involved further opening of the
common bond to include farmers( tea, dairy,coffee and horticulture), business people,
employed individuals and retirees. It was after this rebranding that the Sacco applied for licensing by SASRA which it got with four FOSA branches being approved namely Githunguri HQ, Kagwe, Kigumo and Kimende.
